Solutions for Missing Teeth
Dental implants do so much more than replace missing teeth. They restore both your bite and your confidence to full function. It’s a common misconception that missing teeth are nothing more than a cosmetic problem. The truth is, your oral health can suffer greatly when teeth are not replaced, and can cause a variety of problems the longer they are missing.
Issues include:
Healthy teeth work harder to account for a missing tooth • Excess wear during chewing and biting • A bite imbalance • Development of the risk for additional tooth loss • The shifting of healthy teeth • Bone loss in the jaw
Dental implants can easily alleviate these potential problems, and renew your smile’s long-term stability and looks.
The Dental Implant Process
Dental implants are the most natural replacement for missing teeth, and they address the health concerns by acting as close to your regular teeth as possible. If you and Dr. Rearrick collectively decide that a tooth implant is a practical solution, there are a few simple steps we take to get the process underway.
Step #1 – The Assessment
- We’ll make sure your gum tissue and bone mass in your jaw is healthy and strong enough to support a dental implant.
Step #2 – The Placement
- If you’re a good candidate for a dental implant, we will refer you to our trusted specialist for placement of a small, titanium post in the spot where your tooth used to reside.
Step #3 – The Improvement
- Over the course of a few weeks the post will heal, acting as a natural tooth root. That’s when you’re ready to have a custom-made crown or fixed bridge attached to the implant.
Dental implants are the best long-term investment for missing teeth, because they are durable and long-lasting. Implants will look, feel, and function just like the teeth you used to have. All everyone will notice is your beautiful full smile.
This has been my dental office for 40 years. With the retirement of my excellent dentist, Michael Day, I was a little worried what the new office would be like…. Dr Rearrick and her entire staff were helpful and wonderful. I enjoyed my visit and will look forward to having these professionals take care of our dental needs in the future…. – Ann
Implant-Retained Dentures
We also offer implant-retained dentures for patients who are edentulous (missing all of their teeth). These dentures are held in place by as little as four implants, and are more secure than traditional dentures. Regular dentures can actually accelerate bone loss, as they rest on the gums and put pressure against the jawbone. Implant-retained dentures offer a sparkling smile with the peace of mind that your dentures won’t slip or fall out while eating or speaking.
